Share your shot
Licence to Roam grows with the people who go. Share a photo, a short video, drone footage or a story from any of the places, or suggest a place we've missed. The best appear on the site with your name on it.
The test
Big or small, famous or hidden, we feature anything that makes the next traveller say “wow, how cool is that?” A quiet café the crew used, a staircase from a chase, the exact bend in a mountain road. We'd rather have one brilliant detail than ten average photos.
How it works
- Create an account or sign in (the person icon at the top).
- Open a place and tap Share your shot or story.
- We check every submission against the standards below, usually within a week. Approved work appears on the place page, credited to you.
What makes the cut
- The place at its best. Sharp, well framed, good light. Wide views, the exact filming spot, and the moments locals know.
- Photos: the original file, at least 1,600 pixels wide. No filters that change the colours of the place.
- Video: landscape, steady, 10 to 60 seconds, up to 50 MB. No music; natural sound is fine.
- Drone footage: slow, smooth and high. A reveal of the place from above is the hero shot.
- Stories: a true moment, a fact you learned there, or a tip that would help the next traveller.
Flying drones
Only fly where it is legal, and follow the rules of the country and the site. Many national parks, UNESCO sites, historic centres and cities ban or restrict drones, and some need a permit. Never fly over crowds, people's homes or near airports. We won't feature footage that looks like it broke local rules.
What we can't use
- Anything you didn't make yourself.
- Screenshots, stills, clips or music from the films.
- Close-ups of strangers or children without their permission; private homes or addresses.
Your rights
