Glen Etive, Highlands, UK
A wild glen under Buachaille Etive Mòr, tied to the Celtic legend of Deirdre of the Sorrows and a short drive from Glencoe, scene of the 1692 massacre.
In Skyfall: Bond and M stop the car on the long drive north to the family estate.
Where to stand: Turn south off the A82 onto the single-track road. The roadside stop is in the first few miles, with the two Buachailles either side of the glen.
Best time: Early morning or autumn, when the bracken turns copper.
Eilean Donan, Kyle of Lochalsh, UK
A castle on a tidal island where three sea lochs meet, rebuilt from ruins between 1912 and 1932. It may be the most photographed castle in Scotland.
